Meon Valley Railway

The Meon Valley Railway opened in June 1903. By the 1950's the line had become uneconomical which lead to services being limited or cancelled altogether, however these measures were not enough to save the line and it was ordered for closure.

The last passenger service on the line took place on the 5th February 1955, the freight service to Farringdon goods yard continued until 13th August 1968.

The pictures on this page are of the railway line between Alton and Fareham it will include the stations at :

Farringdon Halt, Tisted, Privett, West Meon, Droxford, Wickham & Knowle Halt.

I will also include pictures from the Mislingford goods yard

This page does not include pictures of Alton Railway Station (these can be found in the Station Road & the Railway Station section of this website) Nor does it  include Fareham Railway station as this line connected to the station that was already there (Fareham Railway Station opened in 1841)
